Socrates’ Daughter began as a shared vision to carry forward our father’s legacy of love, connection, and creativity. As a chef, he loved food and found deep joy and liberation in everything he created.

Named in his honor, Socrates’ Daughter plans and designs intimate gatherings that celebrate life’s sacred moments. From weddings and private dinners to milestone celebrations and quiet rituals of reflection, we create meaningful experiences that are intimate, intentional and grounded in your story.

Our Inspiration

Socrate E. Lajara was born in the Dominican Republic and immigrated to the United States in the late 1970s. Alongside our mother, Altagracia, he built a life rooted in hard work, spending long days in New York City garment factories before discovering his passion for cooking.

In the early 90s, he moved our family to Orlando, Florida, where his love for food and Italian cuisine flourished. Working in Italian restaurants, he found joy, purpose, and connection through the meals he created. Our fondest memories of him involve lots of cheese, pasta, and laughter.

His spirit lives on in his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and in everything we create.
